Hi guys,
The new year has started and that means we, at Dutch Book Chick, will introduce a couple of new things on our blog. We noticed that you would like some more personal posts from us. And we’d love that, too! From now on, we will post a personal update every two weeks. I will start, and in two weeks, it’s Julia’s turn. So in two months, you’ll know the whole team.
Nanouk: chief, books, movies, series, promotion and social media
Ellen: books, Tumblr
Julia: movies
Judith: series
So here’s my personal update.
This week has been good so far. The year started at January 1st, which is obvious of course. On January first I didn’t do much, except for read and blog a lot. I wanted to start 2017 really well, so I made a bad ass schedule for the blog. We will post more often and there will be some returning themes. Besides that, as the intern of HarperCollins Holland, I kicked-off their Young Adult Instagram account, which can be found here. Be sure to join the give-away if you’re Dutch!
On January 2nd, I was invited to meet people of AKO at their head quarters in Amsterdam. AKO is a pretty big book retailer and owns bookstores at train stations all across the Netherlands. I was invited there to talk about promotion and social media stuff. I will be their ‘social influencer’ for the next few months. What that exactly means, you will find out soon enough. But I know this is something really cool and exciting. I can’t wait to share more of what the collaboration between AKO and Dutch Book Chick will mean. WHAT A START OF A NEW YEAR!
This week, I also finished the first book of my Goodreads Challenge. I read The Black Key (Lone City #3) by Amy Ewing. I’ve been waiting for this book FOREVER. IT. WAS. SO. GOOD. And btw, Amy Ewing is an amazing person. I’ve talked to her on Twitter, and she’s super nice. She’ll be visiting the Netherlands in April and I can’t wait to meet her! Exciting for my The Black Key review? My review will be online January 23rd! 🙂
What also happened: last Friday I got home from Amsterdam (interning at HarperCollins Holland) and changed clothes because I was on my way babysitting. I changed, picked up the book (or: manuscript) that was just deliver and I’d been waiting for since forever, and left. I closed the door behind me. I put my key in the top lock, and it got stuck. It didn’t get out. I also couldn’t open the door. Everybody tried. It was minus three degrees outside. I was outside for two and a half hours before a guy from a lock company came to fix things. I was frozen by the time I got in. No feeling in my feet/toes. It was pretty scary. It was like eight o’clock and I fell asleep on the couch. Woke up at 11, still frozen. Changed into PJ’s and went to bed. My advise: don’t break the locks on your door when it’s freezing outside.
For now, I am reading that manuscript (hehehe) and I am reading Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes #2) by Sara Raasch as well. Those are some pretty amazing books! I’ll start on The Sun is Also a Star pretty soon!
For now: have an amazing weekend and let me know what you’ve been up to and what you’re reading!
xoxo
