Sicklit; a new genre you should know about!

Young Adult is a ‘fairly’ new genre that features books for young adults. The books discuss growing up, love, depression, making life decisions and the struggles of life. But it seems like there’s a whole new genre growing inside the Young Adult genre: the Sicklit genre. Say what?! Sicklits are books about sick teens/young adults. ‘Sick’ as in mental and physical. The Sicklit genre originated at “Thirteen Reasons Why” by Jay Asher. The genre is really impressive and I’ve made a list for you with more amazing books in this genre! Be sure to comment and tell me about the books you’ve read or books that should be added to the list!

  1. Some books to add to your list: Wonder (about a boy born with a facial deformity), Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (cancer), Miss Me Not (depression) and Suicide Notes (depression, suicide).

    • Thanks! I will add them to the list tonight! 🙂 I’ve got Suicide Notes on my shelve but forgot to mention it since I haven’t read it yet! What did you think about it?
