OH MY GOD. I just finished the book minutes ago and I’m still trying to get a hold of myself. The last few pages of this book got me screaming, yelling, crying and crawling all at the same time. I was so mad and so happy and so sad. Is it even possible to feel so much? I guess… I just did. But since I do not want to bore you with an emotional breakdown, I’m going to try to set up a decent review that will probably contain a high amount of fangirling, so, beware!
To start off the review, here’s a synopsis to freshen your mind!

This said, I’m going to start off with Kenzie. I feel like at the one hand, she’s a bad ass monster kicking super hero, but at the other hand, she also has a wrong self image. She’s sick. She can’t kick monster’s asses. I know why she wants to, anyway, because she doesn’t want to be helpless or anything, but she’s risking her own life and that of other. But I do really admire her motivation since she’s never giving up. EVER. And that’s something we need more of in this world – the book world I mean. Ha. Ha.
Keirran is one big puddle of unhappiness, anger and sadness. Everything turns around Annwyl (wait.. happened before… dad? anyone?). I got that, he’s in love and everything. But he’s so stubborn! He’s trying everything in his mind to save her from fading away, but he’s not thinking clearly. With Ethan at his side, they do wonders. But only if they think things through. I hate him (read the last part of the review why, I warn you, it contains spoilers!), but I love him too. He’s Ash’s en Meghan’s son, so what’s not to love? (don’t answer this question, please?)
The adventures Ethan gets in due to Keirran are just ridicoulous. Ridicoulous in a good way. I couldn’t stop reading. I started to like Ethan more and I got where he was coming from. He hates Meghan for leaving him, but also for keeping Keirran away from him (now I know why…) and he just doesn’t want to have anything to do with those stupid fey. Got that. Loud and clear. But he just keeps getting sucked into the magical world, and there’s nothing he can do about. I still think he and Meghan (and Ash) should sit down and have a good talk. Maybe lock up Keirran for a while. After saving Annwyl of course, I love her. Happy little thing. As opposed to Meghan, Annwyl does need somebody to save her. She’s that kinda girl and it suits her.

Well, I warned you. If you’re still reading this, you either have read the book or just don’t care. Both are fine with me. I’m going to rant about the ending anyway.
THE ENDING WAS ONE BIG FFF CLIFFHANGER. Please Julie, why? I know this will make bigger anticipation for the third book, but it’s been more than a year since you released this book (I know, I’m late). How could you just throw that ending on us. Like; here, read this, die while reading, of and by the way, you won’t be saved because there ain’t no sequal yet, I love you so bye. That’s what I think. Because HOW could you do something like this? I’m 100% sure to not see this coming already.
In total, this book was very good. It’s fast pasted, got really nice scenery descriptions and lots of bad ass monster fighting. I think Julie Kagawa did the best she could with maintaining the balance between the ‘new’ characters and the ‘old’ characters. For instance, Grimalkin is genious. He needs to be in these books. Even if it’s just to insult one of them.
You seriously have to have these books and read them. They’re awesome!
