Compared to these last few episodes of season 12, this one was a bit less dramatic. Sure, drama was involved but it wasn’t as intense as it usually is. Finally some chill. Kind of…

We have Penny, who is under Meredith’s service again. As a donor comes in for a patient they’ve been with for quite a while, Penny gets told to monitor the patient. Meredith seems to be giving Penny less of a hard time in the beginning of this episode. She and Jo are both with Meredith and while Jo seems to be getting the more challenging stuff, Penny gets handed the easy things. Still not fair, which is what Callie notices! Callie sees thats he isn’t really teaching Penny anything but when she stands up for Penny to Meredith, Penny tells her to shut up. What a way to tell your girlfriend to stay out of it, right?! Could this tension lead to a breakup? I am sort of hoping it will, although I wouldn’t like for Penny to be dismissed like that. I’d like to see her stand on her own and to be given a chance.

What’s going on with other characters? We have a new doctor! The name’s Nathan and apparently Nathan and Owen go way back! Fun old friends? No. Not at all. Owen seems to be having some PTSD going on triggered by Nathan’s presence and then goes to yell at Bailey because he is convinced it is a bad call. Meredith tries to figure out why he’s no good, but is unsuccesful. All she knows is that she should hate him, which she then does after having somewhat a friendly elevator scene where she tells him she’s a friend of Owen. What she meant was “f*** off, Nathan.”
I think this is something good! She’s known Owen for quite a while and she trusts him. Whatever it is, he’s probably right.

Not all bad in this episode! We have, last but not least: Japril. So far, only turn downs and no’s from Jackson’s side but April does NOT give up. They have a date! She and Jackson go to a restaurant where they start to talk but don’t get far considering April is on call. It’s not much, it’s a start! Oh, by the way, it was April who considered it a date. Jackson actually wanted to talk about a divorce. But let’s keep it positive, as they eventually end up having sex. Whoohoo! Way to go, Japril! Is this ship sailing again? I hope so.

Also, Arizona is going to dip her toes into the pool again. The dating pool. She tries to find people to be her “wingman” or wingwoman, whatever. She ends up going with Richard Webber! Richard is completely oblivious at first but when he finds out what Arizona is up to, he is mkre than willing to help her into a new relationship. This scene was so cute! Do you guys want to see Arizona with a new partner? I do and I don’t. My hope for Calzona is still there, kind of.
