Hi guys!
I hope you are enjoying your vacation! And if you are one of the (un)lucky ones who already have to go to school: goodluck! You’ll do fine, I’m sure of that 🙂
Today I went to the thrift shop close to my house. Ofcourse, I went directly to the book departement, eager to get my hands on some classic (and cheap) books. My sister was with me, but she was done very fast. She wasn’t able to find any ‘cool’ books so she went to look around the thrift shop (they sell EVERYTHING) with my mom and dad.
I, on the other hand, enjoyed looking through all the books for about half an hour. I went to the English book departemen first, because I enjoy reading English books slightly more than reading Dutch books. I found these two books:
1. Pride and prejudice – Jane Austen
I’ve read this book once, two years ago. I’ve never been able to get my own (old) copy, but now I did! I have a 33 year old copy… Still not the oldest copy I’ve ever touched (my sister had one that’s even older) but I think it’s old enough to call it ‘old’. It’s from ‘OXFORD UNIVERSITY” and it’s the same edition as my copy of Wuthering Heights (also bought there). It was €1,50 so that’s really cheap!
2. The great Gatsby –Â Â F. Scott Fitzgerald
I was going to buy it on the internet yesterday, for only €5,- but I’m sooo glad I didn’t do it! I bought a copy of this classic book for only €0,50! HOW THE HELL? I know! Why do people sell books for 50ct? I don’t know! I’m just glad I bought it. I couldn’t find how old this book is… It was published in 1926. The first time it was published by Penguin (yes, Penguin Modern Classics) was in 1954, the last time was in 1979. That’s what the book says. So I think this book is from 1979! Which means the book is 34 years old 🙂Â
I was really happy with those classics, but I also bought some books about meds, health and diseases… I wanna study meds next year (not coming year) so I hope those books will be helpfull.Â
I recommend EVERYONE to buy books in a thrift shop! The books smell old, the ambience is great and you will find the most incredible books there! Plus, it’s super cheap 🙂
Enjoy your day! I’m going to continue reading Fused (see my last post!)
