So last night I went to see The Hunger Games at 9:15 pm and it was amazing to re-watch the movie in the cinema again! At midnight, Catching Fire started, and all I can say is that I’m speechless!
ATTENTION: THIS POST CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN’T READ CATCHING FIRE. IT ALSO CONTAINS SPOILERS ON THE MOVIE IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT!
So, please STOP reading if you haven seen/read the movie/book yet!
Just a few minutes before midnight, The Hunger Games finished. I had experienced the whole movie again and it was sooo emotional! I still get goosebumps when Katniss volunteers for Prim, it just gets me every single time. It basically makes me tear up. And Peeta, he’s really just a kid. He’s so innocent. And then the games: god I just hate the moment Rue dies. She the sweetest little girl in the world (besides Prim of course) and I just wanted to hug her.
Midnight. Lionsgate sign. BAM; Catching Fire starts. I just re-read the book and I noticed some differences from the start. The order of the Victory Tour is different. But that’s not a big thing. Again, the major of District 12 and his daughter are left out of the movie, and Katniss sees the news of the uprising in District 8 at the train. Beside from that, Peeta and Katniss are totally cruel towards each other and Gale takes his shot. Exactly as in the book.
After the Tour, Peeta and Katniss hear they’ll be tributes again. Peeta volunteers for Haymitch and together they’ll go in the arena again. I think the strongest things in this movie are the emotions and reactions of president Snow, who starts to hate Katniss more and more.
The games start and Cinna is dead. Katniss sees it all happening just before she gets into the arena. And then the madness starts and almost immediately Peeta dies. Well, he lives again after Finnick (FINNICK!!!) saves his live. DAMN IT, I knew he would survive but it was soooooo exciting.
The BEST part of the movie is when Katniss and Peeta are on the beach, over thinking the situation, their lives and their future. What’s gonna happen? Who will live? And that’s the moment Katniss realizes that she LOVES Peeta. And they have their FIRST REAL KISS and I just couldn’t do anything but sob at that moment. It was so emotional and sweet and also heart breaking because I know what’s happening in Mockingjay.
And then there’s chaos, lots of chaos, and all of the sudden Katniss shoots an arrow at the force field and destroys it. She is in a hoover craft, Peeta’s gone, Gale’s in the hoovercraft (together with Haymitch and Plutarch) which is totally confusing if you haven’t read the book. And than it all ends with the fact that District 12 is gone and they’re heading for District 13.
END.
END.
Holy crap this movie is so perfect. It contains everything you need for a good movie: excitement, problems, mysteries, love and humor. I gotta be honest: the first part of Catching Fire is totally hilarious. Johanna, thumbs up girl! I just can’t say it enough; the movie was soooo emotional and I loved it even more than I loved The Hunger Games.
The movie is amazing and honest and true and exciting and if you’re not planning on watching it at the cinema, do it anyway! It’s worth you’re money and time! GO GO GO!
Well, that’s it for now,
