In 2015, the movie “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” was released. The build up for this movie was so big, that I had claimed this movie to review. This, however, was not an acceptable action, without first reviewing the prequel to that. So I hereby present to you, my review of THE Marvel movie of 2012, “Marvel’s The Avengers”.

“Nick Fury is director of S.H.I.E.L.D, an international peace keeping agency. The agency is a who’s who of Marvel Super Heroes, with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When global security is threatened by Loki and his cohorts, Nick Fury and his team will need all their powers to save the world from disaster.” (IMDb)

This is one movie in a storyline that consists of many, many movies. To keep it short, the writers and producers of the movie expect the viewers to have seen at least Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, specifically in that order, before seeing this one.

One of many things that make this movie so good, is the fact that the fan base has such high expectations. Marvel has set the bar with Iron Man, as the first movie in Phase One: Avengers Assemble, and the fans have not gone easy on the writers and producers of this masterpiece. The people who wrote the storyline, the actors who portrayed the characters and those who made the visual effects possible have done such an amazing job that there is no way that someone isn’t able to love this movie. Unless you haven’t seen the other movies… In that case, don’t watch this one yet, it won’t make any sense. At all.

Let’s start from the beginning. The first “big thing” happening in this movie is Loki, brother of Thor, making his entrance into the film. I am a big fan of Loki and feel that they have done him right by bringing him back for this movie. Loki has been promised an army which he can conquer the earth with in exchange for the Tesseract. This army turns out to be such a threat, that Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D., decides to call in The Avengers.

One remarkable scene, in the midst of many other amazingly well-done scenes is Cap’s first assignment. This is to arrest Loki. Iron Man later swoops in and aims all the weapons he’s got on Loki, after which Loki surrenders. In my opinion, this scene was so remarkable because it showed how much power they have, even if it’s just the two of them for now.

Once The Avengers are all together, discoveries are made and Loki’s plan comes to light. While The Avengers argue over how to deal with Loki, the ship is being attacked by Clint Barton (also known as Hawkeye) and other possessed agents who Loki took control of.\

What happens next is a whole lot of action in and around the ship, which you will have to see for yourself. All this action takes place in such an amount of time that is neither too short or too long. The effects are so well done that I might as well start crying when I think of the beauty of this movie. The characters never lose their personality and it is a joy to watch the relationships of the characters who have had their own movie (except for Black Widow, what’s up with that?!) get better as they learn about the others and work together (ahum, Captain America and Iron Man) in order to battle Loki’s possessed agents and protect the city of New York.

After a whole lot of dramatic shots and action, some more action and… guess what?! Action, obviously, the Avengers have cleared the city of Loki’s army and plan to eat shawarma together, which is shown in the after-credits scene.

In a nutshell:
Liked it: YES
Loved it: Yes!
Re-watch: Absolutely
Cinema worthy: Yes!
