So I’ve had this idea, about reading, that I would only be able to really broaden my horizon, if I’d read classics and other genres. I LOVE reading Young Adult books, but I feel kinda obligated to read some classics too. Before reading book from my shelve (there are so many books on my shelve that I haven’t read yet), I make a list. I’ve made a post about that earlier. So I decided to alternate my readings: classic, YA, classic, YA etc. Sometimes I read something else instead of YA, but basically this it what I do.
I wondered whether there are more of you that do that? Do you guys read classics for fun too? Jane Austen, Harper Lee, Charlotte Brönte, Charles Dickens… Those are some real authors.
Right now I’m reading “To Kill a Mockingbird” and it’s actually a really entertaining book! It’s unbelievable but at the same time so damn real. And the writing style is just a-ma-zing. It’s about a real serious subject, but it’s written in a way that you are just mesmerized into the world, without really realizing Harper Lee is talking about a real thing. So that’s the thing I like about classics. They do that. They talk about important matters. And because the classics are ‘old’, you don’t only have a good time reading, you’ll also learn something about the world.
What classics have you read? Let me know 🙂
