If I Stay movie premiere

So this weekend the “If I Stay” movie hits the cinemas in America, unfortunately, I’m from the Netherlands so I won’t be able to see it until September 15th. Plus I haven’t read the book yet (shame on me) though I have ordered it at Bookdepository and hopefully it’ll be delivered tonight or tomorrow so I can read it BEFORE I see the movie. That’s kind of a golden rule. First the book than the movie.

For those who haven’t read the book yet, it is reviewed as “amazing” and “heartbreaking” so it sounds like something I’d read. It’s written by Gayle Forman and well… I’d like to introduce you (and myself) to the book. Here’s what Goodreads says about “If I Stay”, it’s a synopsis:

Just listen, Adam says with a voice that sounds like shrapnel.

I open my eyes wide now.
I sit up as much as I can.
And I listen.

Stay, he says.

Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind?

Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it’s the only one that matters.

If I Stay is a heartachingly beautiful book about the power of love, the true meaning of family, and the choices we all make.

Sounds very promising to me! I have also ordered it’s sequel, “Where She Went”. But I’m not going to talk about that book, this post is all about the “If I Stay” movie. I really hope everybody who reads this is going to see it, if not, please watch the trailer and hopefully it’ll convince you to 1) watch the movie and 2) read the book.

– 10 minutes later –

I’m actually watching the trailer for the first time, and I’m almost in tears. I have goosebumps all over my arms. I think this is going to be one of my favorite books/movies this year! I would put it in the “The Fault in Our Stars” category. Yup. Definitely! So, watch the trailer, have your handkerchiefs ready and enjoy 🙂 The movie features Chloë Grace Moretz and Mireille Enos. The movie earned a strong $1.1 million in late-night showings last Thursay which is pretty good!
