So, in between all the exams, I decided to go see Divergent with two of my best friends. I didn’t have time to be excited for the movie, because I wasn’t supposed to go to the movie until next week, but I went anyway.
With bags full of food and drinks, we entered the cinema (packed with teens). We got some of the best seats and chatted about our expectations. I didn’t really prepare anything and didn’t know what to look for during the movie. I had no clue about what would be close to the book and what wouldn’t. Usually, I read some reviews before I see the movie (reviews without spoilers of course).
I don’t want to spoil the movie, and that’s why I’ve decided to do a quick, overall review about the movie in general. I will not zoom in on specific details or scenes, because a big part of the Divergent readers haven’t had a chance to see the movie yet.
I believe the camera man did a great job, I LOVED the way the movie was filmed. All the shots were great and very accurate to the feeling that I felt during reading the book. Also, the cast was perfect. I had some doubts about Four (way back), but Theo James did a great job! Shailene, Shailene, Shailene… I just can’t stop loving you! I do not believe that any other actress could have been a better Tris. And thumbs up the the other members of the cast, you made the movie really believable!
Quick note: the movie wasn’t EXACTLY the same as the book (which is, apparently, impossible), but in general it didn’t really bother me. I did miss some characters that were featured in the book, but were left out of the movie. I believe they would’ve added some more debt to the movie. But then the movie would be three or more hours, and I’m sure some people wouldn’t really appreciate that (I don’t mind, honestly).
Overall: the movie was exciting, sweet, honest, surprising and just… AMAZING! I think every Divergent fan loves the movie too (at least, that’s what I hope for). I believe this is a BIG SUCCESS!
Be brave.
