Hi guys, today July has kicked in and the temperatures in The Netherlands are extremely high. To cool off, we recommend a good book with an ice cold drink. And for the evenings we also have added some exciting movies and series! So… you won’t have to get bored 🙂 Enjoy our list

Book: “Go Set a Watchman” (To Kill a Mockingbird #2) by Harper Lee
I’m really excited about this book that is coming out the 14th of July, since I absolutely loved reading To Kill a Mockingbird. Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted before To Kill a Mockingbird and has been written mid-1950s. The manuscript was assumed to be lost but luckily they found it back last year and decided to publish it.
Movie: The Age of Adaline
For a movie recommendation I was really struggling hard to choose between The King’s Gardens (A Little Chaos) and The Age of Adaline. Off course I’ve already seen The King’s Gardens a few weeks ago with Nanouk and absolutely loved, and think everyone should go and see this on in the cinema. Personally I’m also very excited to go see Age of Adaline in the cinema, because who wouldn’t want to see a movie starring Blake Lively and our own Michiel Huisman.
Series: Suits (Season 5)
My go-to series for the summer is going to be season 5 of Suits. The new season starts the 24th of June and I’m really excited about it since all the series I love are on a break at the moment *cries in a corner*. Suits is about a Mike, who has a photographic memory, and gets hired as an associate for Harvey Spector at a big lawyer firm. I can’t really say more without spoiling anything so you guys just have to watch it.

Book: Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkings
The book that I’m recommending this summer is Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkings. Nanouk gave it to me for my birthday and I can’t wait to read it! The book has the perfect setting for a summer read. The books was released earlier this year.
Movie: The Intern
And the movie I think everyone needs to see this summer is the Intern with Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. The film is out in September and I will be seeing it in theatres as soon as it comes out! It seems like a heart-warming story with enough humour and interesting plotline. So the perfect light hearted movie for the end of the summer!
Series: Sense8
The tv-show that I’m recommending this summer is sense8. The new Netflix original series. I’ve binged watched it in two days. It’s sci-fi and sometimes a bit graphic but overall one of the best shows I’ve ever seen (and that’s a lot!) whit the most interesting and real characters on TV today. You can watch the first season on Netflix right now!

Book: “The Pledge” by Laura Ward & Christine Mazari
I saw this coming up on Goodreads and the storyline really spoke to me, (so did the cover!) and I think it will be perfect to read a hot day away. The book’s release date is 27 July, so we have to wait a little bit more. [Addition of Nanouk: As far as I can tell, this book will be a series of books, we gotta keep our attention to this!]
Movie: Ant-Man
No one really knows the hero Ant-Man, so no one is really looking forward to it. But I say we must give this movie a chance! At least I want to see how this movie is going to tie in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Agent Carter and the Falcon are in it. Maybe it will be the summerhit this year, and Michael Douglas in a Marvel movie? Come on, let’s  go! The movie will be released on 23 July.
Series: I am Cait
Of course we all heard about the transformation of Bruce to Caitlyn Jenner, but wat is her real story? I think there’s more to it than the fuzz the media is giving us and I hope the 8 episodes will make us understand her situation. The series release date is set for July 26th. Everything good comes out at the end of July!

Book: “Ruthless” by Carolyn Lee Adams
The book I’m recommending you guys this summer is Ruthless. This book seems thrilling and exciting and the summary, which you can read HERE, definitely drew my attention. Let’s hope it’s as good as it seems! The release date is July 9th so that’s next week! Whoop!
Movie: Terminator: Genysis
After 4 Terminator movies, some good and some… not so good, they decided to make another movie that sorta has the same idea of the first one. Kyle Reese gets sent back in time to protect Sarah Connor, like it all started. The difference is, it’s not at all like how he expected it to be. All is very exciting and definitely awesome 🙂
Series: Dreamwork’s Dragons: Race to the Edge
This series leads up to my favorite animated movie: How to Train Your Dragon 2. Needless to say, I would love to see how the characters, especially the main character Hiccup, evolved from the tiny 15 y/o to the (mostly) independent 20 y/o that we see in the second film.
Recommendations: Nanouk
Book: “Seeker” by Arwen Elys Dayton
Oh my god, so your asking me (asking myself?) to recommend only ONE book? Gosh. Okay, well, since I recommended Every Last Word for the YABC staff, I can’t recommend that book again. So I think I will go for Seeker. Seeker is written by Arwen Elys Dayton, and I’ve almost finished reading the book. It’s fantasy-ish but set in modern days. You have to get through the first part of the book but than you’ll totally enjoy it. It’s a whole new world to get used to, but totally worth it. (P.s. I know this book is kinda ‘old’, but it just got released in Dutch…).
Movie: Paper Towns
Yeey, this was an easy recommendation. Even though I also wanted to recommend The Age of Adaline (read: REALLY want to see it), Paper Towns is highest on my list. The movie is, as we all know, based on the novel written by John Green (John WHO?). The story is about finding out who you are and well… finding  If you’re from the Netherlands, I might have a Paper Towns surprise coming up for you… stay tuned!
Series: Teen Wolf Season 5
Do you know what I mean when I say: it’s so bad that it’s good? Yes. Teen Wolf. Seasson 5 premiered lat night and I haven’t had time to watch it yet (plus, Esther and I will probably wanna watch it together as we always do). But, Teen Wolf Season 5 sounds pretty much totally bad ass and I hope they will keep up a ‘good’ plot line. I totally loved Season 4 so I can’t wait to see what happens next… Let’s pray for the best!
Please, let us know what YOU think about our Summer Recommendations, and maybe you have one of yourself? Enjoy the summer!
